Default Clamour of Souls?

I've been trying to find an explanation of how this skill works, but so far I've yet to find any decent answers?

Can anyone explain to me how it works and why people never seem to use it?

For every ally in Nearby range, a random foe (also in Nearby range) is hit for x amount of damage. The catch? The same foe can't be hit twice.

Here's an example.

You have Johnny, Billy, and Joe in Nearby range. They're your allies.

Then, you have Naga1, Naga2 and Naga3 in Nearby range also.

You cast Clamor of Souls. You have three allies in Nearby range, meaning it will dish out damage three times. Now, since it can't hit the same enemy more than once, CoS will hit each Naga once.

If you had two Nagas and three allies, only two would be hit. Two allies and four Nagas means two Nagas get hit, etc.

The reason people don't really use it is because you have to have both allies in Nearby range and enemies as well. This means you need to get in knee-deep instead of staying back safely in the distance. I imagine it could be useful in missions like Vizunah Square, since it's mostly CQC, but otherwise, it's safer to stay back with the other casters.

Or u cud just spam spirits out the ass and CoS and do major dmg, or do the allies have to b flesh and blood?!

Because spirits and minions do not class as allies according to the usage of this skill, they will get struck by this elite regardless.

Yea its a pretty bad skill. not at all worthy of elite status. BUt it complements ancestors rage+ Cruel was dashoen well so it seems that is the reason.

Don't know what you are talking about, because CoS does count both spirit and minion to do its damage. CoS also does not damage your team's spirit or minion.

While that, CoS still sux, because it is an elite with a conditional ability lower than a normal skill. (Flame burst is like, 3x better than this) It is like making flame burst into an elite with longer cast time, longer recharge, and conditional AoE with less damage... with the only good thing being 5 less energy; at that moment, who cares about the energy? Even if it cost 0 energy, no one would bother with it.

Doesn't CoS also count yourself when calculating the number of allies? Granted its still pretty much useless as an Elite but...

EDIT: Just tested, it does indeed count yourself for damage purposes, so if you had 3 spirits near you'd hit upto 4 enemies and so on.

I usually pair up CoS with Destruciton + Rupture soul for some Dmg + blinding any assasin or warrior in PvE. But I think this skill set quite hard to use in PvP since enemy dont keep hitting your tank

I never said it did hit allied spirits or minions. Im saying that the normal rule of 1 ally for one enemy does not apply if you use CoS against spirits ofr minions. So you can go in, by yourself, into a group of enemy spirits, use CoS and they will all get hit.
